Happy Gay Pride weekend New York & Toronto

The largest cities of America and Canada have celebrated their Pride weekends in fabulous and fun style! Diane HQ’s has been receiving WhatsApp messages all weekend from Toronto and New York queens and ladies so we thought we’d upload some gay anthems and celebrate all things LGBTQ today.

And a huge thank you to all the gay advocates in the fabulous entertainment industry…. so yes thank you RuPaul, George Michael, Madonna, Cher, Bette Midler, Kylie Minogue, Whitney Houston, Willam, Alaska Thunderfuck, Courtney Act, Dolly Parton, Dannii Minogue, Janet Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Steps, Britney Spears, Tina Arena…. to name just a few ladies and gents who celebrate, love and respect their LGBTQ following.

Whitney Houston ‘Can I Be Me’ documentary

Diane HQ are just home from Hoyt’s Cinema in Sydney after watching ‘Can I Be Me’ the new Whitney Houston unauthorized documentary. Even though Cissy Houston doesn’t approve of the film, the film features incredible interviews and footage of Whitney’s inner entourage – security guard of many years, her personal assistant, her make-up and hair ladies… so the film feels quite authentic. It even features footage of her two brothers, her manager, Bobby Brown, her rumoured lesbian relationship with Robyn Crawford and even Little Miss Cissy Houston. Cissy we get it, you don’t like gays and lesbians but why all the hate towards your daughter’s best friend up until 1999! Homophobia is not a good look on anybody in 2017 so watch yourself Cissy.

And it’s terribly sad how either Bobby Brown’s crew or Cissy’s crew paid-off Robyn after the ‘My Love is your Love’ tour, so Whitney lost her best friend and the two ladies never saw one another again.

The documentary explores how Whitney was influenced by her two brothers as a teen and started drinking, partying and doing drugs. It chronicles the extraordinary rise of her career when she released her first two albums. It also documents how Arista Records marketed her as a ‘white pop singer’ and anything too ‘black or urban’ was ignored and never featured on an album, and how Whitney got booed at the 1989 Soul Train Awards because African Americans said Whitney was ‘too white’. It’s fair to say 2000 saw the really dramatic demise of Whitney. Whitney got dropped from the Academy Awards because Burt Bacharach said she couldn’t sing the song in key or on cue, then the Michael Jackson benefit show where Whitney’s weight loss became very obvious.

Go and see this film. I sobbed very loudly towards the end. Go and see this film just for the fabulous concert footage from her 1999 American and European tour. Her voice wasn’t too damaged on this tour and she sang her songs pretty perfectly.

R.I.P. Nippy. You are missed and you were without question the voice of your generation. Thank you for the music.

King Beyoncé has given birth to the twins

Beyoncé and Jay Z have welcomed their twins, according to multiple reports.

“Bey and Jay are thrilled and have started sharing the news with their family and closest friends,” a source told People, who reported the arrival on Saturday night. Beyoncé, 35, and Jay Z, 47, are already parents to 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy. And it’s a boy and a girl as we can see here…

We love this photograph of Blue Ivy looking very cute but dorky with her famous parents.
